Application for a Justice/Leadership Immersion Trip and Placement Information

To apply for a trip, please fill out and submit the online application form below. If you wish to seek financial assistance for a trip, please be sure to submit the Financial Aid Request (the last page of the form) as well.

Application Deadlines

Deadline for applications is Friday, September 20, 2019. Applications will be reviewed and accepted in the order they are received. Incomplete applications will be considered last. Please take your co-curricular activities and course workload into account when you are looking at a possible trip.

The Global Education Team reviews all applications to determine trip placement. Priority will be given to first time participants, especially seniors. A lottery system or a second application process will be used to determine trip placements when the interest is beyond trip capacity.

Students are encouraged to name more than one immersion choice, as it increases placement opportunity.
Eligible students not placed on a trip will be on the waiting list. Global Education will continue to accept applications as space allows.

Confirmation of and Registration for Trip

Submit your application by September 20, 2019. Offers of placement will be sent approximately one week later. Once offered a placement, we ask that you confirm your spot on the trip within one week. Here is how to confirm your participation on a justice/leadership immersion trip:

1. Read the Global Education policy and procedure information provided with the offer of placement.
2. Fill out and submit the online registration form. Only registration forms with complete information will be considered.
3. Via the online registration form, submit information on how you wish to be billed for the trip (payment options are included in the registration form.) Registration is complete only when all steps are finished.

If you are unable to accept placement for any reason, please let Global Education know immediately so that the spot might be offered to another student. Once registration is received and payment is set up, families are financially responsible for their spot on the trip. Should a student need to cancel their participation, partial refunds are possible, though not guaranteed. The possibility of refund depends on filling the vacancy on the trip. Global Education will make every effort to fill such vacancies.

Financial Information

Costs are designed to cover the full experience— transportation, housing, meals, trip leaders and other program costs. Costs are reflective of “simple living” and cover basic living needs. We strive to live simply so we are in solidarity with the communities that we visit.

For those requiring financial assistance, Global Education offers alternative payment arrangements and/or partial financial aid awards, depending on trip and need. The financial aid request is included in this application form, and must be completed by the registration deadline of September 20, 2019 in order to be considered for aid. Justice/leadership immersion trip placements are made irrespective of need or financial aid requests and decisions are made by two separate committees.

For any questions or concerns regarding this application, please contact Cara Borromei (cborromei@ndsj.org).
