The Move and Shake Work-Life Balance Retreat at the University of Chicago, Chicago, IL will be held in August 3 - 5, 2017 as a gathering of high performing women, who want to explore the ways in which they can develop a well-rounded lifestyle. We realize that there is a need for a women’s retreat for women of color to explore the intersection of their professional, personal, and social experiences.
The Move and Shake Women's Retreat is an event during which facilitators will expose women to solutions on how to navigate their multiple identities such as motherhood or being a first generation academic.
With the theme “Game Changer,” The Move and Shake Women’s Life-Work Balance at University of Chicago is an annual self-care event that provides female scholars of color with the tools to do the balancing act in their personal life, career, and play.
We are accepting facilitators’ proposal for the retreat and we invite you submit your workshop idea in the following ways:
1. Written Abstract: 200-word proposal that demonstrates work-life balance practice for academic and high performing women. Work-life balance is the manner with which we equally pursue a great work ethic and great lifestyle choices. Proposals can make a connection to the relevance of their work-life balance practice to the facilitator’s academic discipline expertise. Workshops can be grounded in a particular work and interactive. Example Topic: Self-Care, Fitness, Faith, Meditation, Stress Management
2. Video Proposal – 1 minute 30 second video may be submitted detailing a work-life balance practice as mentioned above.
Note: Please be advised that all facilitators are responsible for the expenses associated with attending the Move and Shake Retreat.

This workshop information will be put directly into the conference program as submitted.
Please give a brief and concise description of the workshop being proposed (250 word limit). In addition, you may provide a 1 minute video clip conveying what participants can expect in your workshop.

All of the rooms for the workshops are smart rooms and can connect VIDEO and AUDIO from any LAPTOP. We encourage each facilitator to provide their own laptop, but we can provide one if necessary. Please check the following additional equipment that we will need to provided for you
