UTFET Application Cycle #2
THE DEADLINE FOR THIS APPLICATION WILL BE THE 26TH OF OCTOBER.

Preface:

Thank you for applying to become a technical member of UTFET. We shall strive to interview all applicants. While there are 23 questions, note that they are all multiple-choice and will take significantly less time than writing out paragraphs.

Team Structure:
UTFET has an ambitious mandate that must be completed within an ambitious timeline. We aim to keep the team efficient and highly adaptable to the large variety of tasks we have. This is not a general member application in the conventional sense, as the team structure is incredibly flat. All members in the team are technical members.
  1. There are four divisions in the team: three general divisions (A, B, and C) and one teaching administration division. The teaching administration division will begin work in January. The three general divisions will have division leads who will assign tasks to members in the division.
  2. There are five administrative members: Team Principal, Finance, Operations, Marketing & Outreach, and Teaching. Administrative members manage tasks to ensure that the team remains on target and on schedule. Currently, the Team Principal, Finance, and Operations administrative members are taken. The Teaching Administrative member will begin work in January. Applications for this position will open in December.
  3. All administrative members are technical members and will complete technical work to their maximum capacity. It is expected that Finance, Operations, and Team Principal will complete a larger portion of work than that of Marketing & Outreach or Teaching, if any.
  4. All division leads are technical members.
  5. All technical members are paired with another technical member. Pairing is decided based on complementing each other's skillsets such that the pair can complete a wide range of technical tasks.
  6. Some technical members will receive the additional role of specialist. Specialist members specialize in key skills such as PCB design, low-voltage firmware design, composites, etc. They provide technical knowledge on their skill and are the first point of contact for questions that technical members may have while carrying out their tasks.
Current Application Cycle:
The application is a simple multiple-choice application used to determine your skill set. Specialists and division leads will be determined on the basis of discussion during your interview.

Best of luck.

Documentation of Skillset and Miscellaneous Articles
From the given skillset you have described by answering the question above, please provide any documents, links, google drives, videos, images, writeups, GitHub repositories, etc.

We will discuss the nature of your work in the interview and will use this to more closely evaluate who we may pair with you.
We will be meeting once a week for a general meeting (1h30) and then have relevant work sessions that will be optional (1h30) but may prove useful for sharing thoughts between pairs. You should strive to meet with your pair often (1h) to ensure work progresses alongside the completion of your own tasks (2-5h)

We estimate this time commitment of this would be between 4h30 and 7h30 a week depending on the level of technical task you wish to complete.

What is the time commitment you are able to give UTFET?
*
Would you like to be considered for a leadership position? *
Any concerns, questions, or additional information that would not fit anywhere else in your application?
Please ensure that you monitor your UofT email carefully in the coming few days as interview information should follow.
