Swarthmore Special Collections (including the Friends Historical Library, Swarthmore College Peace Collection, Swarthmore College Archives, and McCabe Rare Book Room) are open for researchers by appointment only. Appointment slots are available Monday to Friday, from 9:00a - 12n and 1p-4p.
While Swarthmore classes are in session, we can be open select Saturdays, 10a - 1p, by advanced request. Researchers may request multiple appointment slots. Requests must be submitted at least two weeks in advance. The phone number to reach the Special Collections Reading Room is 610-690-3386.
All Special Collections researchers will be served through the Special Collections reading room, located on the first floor of McCabe Library (the door to your left as soon as you enter the building). Reading room capacity is four researchers at a time. There are several on-campus dining options open for visitors; please check the website for updates (
