Job Application for Pet Sitter/Dog Walker

Established in March of 2015, The Dog’s Pajamas (TDP) is a locally owned pet sitting and dog walking business that serves clients in Richmond and Centerville. We provide peace of mind to our clients by providing exceptional care for their pets in their own homes.

The purpose of this application is to hire the best pet sitters for our clients and to make sure this job is a good fit for both parties. This is a part-time position and is meant for supplemental income; a set schedule or a set number of hours each week are not guaranteed. 

The process:
  1. READ the job description and make sure this position is for you.

  3. INTERVIEW. If selected, you will be invited to a phone and/or an in-person interview. 
  4. SHADOW. If selected, you will be invited to shadow a pet sitter for one or two visits.

BASIC REQUIREMENTS:
  • Live in the current service area of (Richmond/Centerville, IN)
  • Have a valid driver’s license and a reliable insured vehicle.
  • Have a smartphone with the capability to run the Time to Pet app.
  • Have an email address that you check on a daily basis.
  • Be at least 18 years of age or older.
  • Be able to pass a background check.
  • Be personable, professional, and well-presented.
  • Commit to minimum of 12 months with The Dog’s Pajamas (temporary or short term help is not accepted) 
  • Be available to work 2-3 weekends per month.
  • Be confident and competent walking large dogs.
JOB DESCRIPTION:
  • Communicate professionally and promptly with clients via the Time to Pet app.
  • Provide exceptional care for all pets, including dogs of all sizes, cats, birds, and other small animals.
  • Walk dogs of all breeds and sizes, prioritizing the safety of both the pets and yourself. 
  • Serve clients in all weather conditions: rain, snow, cold, and heat.
  • Enter clients' home safely via garage door, keyless, and keyed entry, and operate alarm/security systems confidently.
  • Ensure client homes are secured upon arrival and departure.
  • Maintain clean and tidy pet areas and homes.  
  • Handle house sitting duties as requested such as taking out trash, collecting mail, watering plants, etc.
  • Adapt to a flexible schedule with hours ranging each week ranging from 5-20+ depending on client needs.

Peak travel times, such as spring and fall break, and major holidays are the busiest times of the year for the pet sitting business. As a pet sitter for The Dog's Pajamas, it is expected that you will be available during these times (you'll still be able to enjoy the holiday!). Please check the following when you're NOT available:
