UNESCO Seminar: Lessons for Education Development from East Asia: Growing Smarter
The NEQMAP Secretariat at UNESCO Bangkok will host a special seminar on “Lessons for Education Development from East Asia: Growing Smarter” on Friday, 25 May 2018 at UNESCO Bangkok Office. It will be livestreamed via Skype for Business from 14:30-16:30 Bangkok time.
This seminar will focus on a presentation of the recent World Bank publication “Growing Smarter”, its relevance to the work of NEQMAP, the region’s main network on educational assessments and how these may contribute to improving the quality of education.
1.Host (Ms. Maki Hayashikawa, UNESCO Bangkok): Opening remarks
2.Main speaker (Dr. Harry Patrinos, World Bank): Introduction of World Bank’s new flagship “Growing Smarter” and harmonised learning outcomes
3.First discussant (Mr. Moritz Bilagher, UNESCO Bangkok): Introduction to NEQMAP’s work with comments on Dr.Harry’s speech and the concept of quality of education
4.Second discussant (Dr. Ethel Agnes Pascua-Valenzuela, SEAMEO Secretariat): Comment on Dr. Harry’s speech from South-East Asia perspective and share some SEAMEO’s work
5.Open discussion
