The Fall semester runs from September to December. No classes on Columbus/Indigenous People Day, Veteran's Day, and Wednesday & Thursday of Thanksgiving week.
The Winter/Spring semester runs from the end of January to mid-May. No classes on school vacations in February and April.
The schedule should include: The day of the week - no weekends; the number of sessions (1 to 15); the length of the class - 1 hour, 1 ½ hours, 2 hours, 2 ½ hours or 3 hours; the time - (ex. 3 hour classes may run from 6-9 p.m., a two hour class might run from 5-7 p.m. or 6:30-8:30 p.m., etc.); and, the start date.
Academic courses for high school completion credit must meet for 45 hours (usually 3 hours per week for 15 weeks).
The pay rate per instructional hour is $19. However, if you are affiliated with a business and would like to invoice Lawrence Adult Education for your course for a set fee, that is also acceptable.
Classes are advertised online and in our brochure which is delivered to every household in M.S.A.D. #49.
A minimum number of registrations is required to run a course. Instructors and students are notified at least 24 hours before the start date of the class (or when you specify a cut off date for enrollment) if it is cancelled.
No certification or degrees are necessary except for teachers of academic subjects in the high school diploma program.
Materials or book fees are typically built into the course price, so please be prepared with the information about these costs.
The price for the course is determined by the length of the course, materials, the market, and whether it is subsidized by the state.
