Queerstories Storyteller EOI
I’m looking for LGBTQI+ storytellers keen to perform at Queerstories events in 2021. I am especially looking for those based in Brisbane, Sydney, Western Sydney, NSW Central Coast, Wollongong and Tasmania, for now, but am eager to here from those in other locations as well.

Stories are 10 minutes long and all storytellers are paid a performance fee of between $150 - $300, dependent on venue and budget.

WHAT I AM LOOKING FOR
• a personal story about you ie narrative non-fiction
• something surprising or unexpected, intimate and intriguing
• strong writing skills

WHAT I AM NOT LOOKING FOR
• opinion pieces, lectures or political speeches; by all means be political – our lives are political – but weave your politics into narrative rather than writing something educational
• stories that are didactic about gender and sexuality – tell me a story about your experiences and emotions, don’t educate the listener about your identity

PROCESS
As curstor, I act as editor, often suggesting changes based on my knowledge of the audience. You will need to submit copy for feedback in advance of the performance.

Some people use the Queerstories platform to discuss quite personal issues. This is welcome – and it’s an honour that people feel safe to do so – but please be sure you are ready to write about the issue creatively and that you are open to feedback and edits. Please also consider the audience experience if discussing traumatic events.
