City Extension Programs provide a diverse selection of not-for-credit workshops to support professional development goals, as well as life-long learning and personal enrichment. Workshops are taught by experts in their fields online via Canvas-Catalog and face-to-face.

+ Workshops can range from a single standalone session (2-3 hours), to several weekly sessions, up to a total of 15 total hours of instructional time. We do not offer semester-long courses and workshops are not-for-credit.

+ An 10-student minimum must be reached for a workshop to run. City Extension programs receive no public funding and are 100% self-supported through workshop student fees. The success of our workshops depends entirely on enrollment.

+ We are accepting proposals for workshops that are in-person or online via Canvas-Catalog. You can also propose a workshop that is a hybrid of in-person and online.

+ We are looking for proposals that clearly outline short run workshops and whose content does not overlap with our current offerings.

+ Online workshops can be a blend of live instruction/feedback and on-demand (asynchronous) learning.

+ In-person and live online workshops generally happen in the evening, however, exceptions can be made for daytime workshops on a case-by-case basis.

+ Instructors are responsible for promoting their workshops through email, fliers, and social media.

+ If you are teaching a similar workshop, or class with a different institution, please coordinate the timing of your workshop with City Extension so that the classes do not compete. Similarly, if you are teaching a workshop at a reduced price at another institution, please propose a different workshop to City Extension.

+ For Faculty of CCSF; City Extension is a great place to develop ideas and add to your student following. Pay is the non-instructional rate and instruction does not include homework, testing, or assessments. Instructional hours with City Extension do count towards your load, so check with your department head and to make sure you have room to add hours.

+ If you have a workshop that was recently canceled due to low enrollment, please submit a new proposal. We want to support you and give you the chance to offer something new, however, we will not be considering workshops that have been canceled more than twice in the last few years.

+ We appreciate your enthusiasm: please do not submit more than 3 proposals per term.
