IYA ARIKE
Iya Arike is a powerful one-woman play set in the heart of Balogun Market, Lagos, where a fabric seller recounts her life of survival and resistance. Through humour, memory and raw storytelling, she moves from childhood trauma, into rebirth and self-redefinition in the chaos of the city.
Balogun becomes her sanctuary, her classroom, her stage. There, she does not just sell cloth — she sells truth, dignity, and the stubborn will of a woman who refused to give up.
Iya Arike is a story of resilience, gender, and urban survival — where Lagos itself breathes through one woman’s voice.
