I support permanent protection of Cochise County's iconic Whetstone, Dragoon and Chiricahua mountain ranges - our Land of Legends - for our future. These historic natural treasures on public land provide clean water, world-class outdoor recreation, key habitat for Arizona’s endangered wildlife, cultural and spiritual values and the stunning scenery that makes Cochise County such a wonderful place to live. These few remaining undeveloped mountain ranges are also cornerstones of our local economy. They are the vital watersheds for the integrity of Kartchner Caverns & provide the vast, quiet open space essential for Fort Huachuca's Electronic Proving Ground and its future. Their scenic beauty gives us a competitive edge in attracting new businesses, talented workers, visitors & investment in our communities. To conserve the natural state of these federal public lands for our future we should explore permanent designations including national conservation areas, wilderness and other collaborative protection efforts.
