We are pleased to offer our Fall 2019 Catalog, with a variety of fun and exciting classes for the children of PS 6. Our classes are offered as enrichment programs to enhance our children’s academic experience. We’ve included a diverse selection of classes, emphasizing dance, the arts and STEAM programs to provide offerings that will engage our children.
Children enrolled in The PS 6 After School Club are supervised during classes by our highly competent Club Supervisors, who ensure your children are safe and comfortable. Many classes prepare an end-of-semester program, where you will enjoy seeing your children in action! Information will be provided toward the end of the semester for participating classes.

Coding - Introduction to Computational Thinking (Scratch Jr.) Grades K-1
Each week students complete fun little projects using Scratch Jr, an app inspired by MIT’s popular Scratch programming language and specifically designed for young children. Participants learn about Sequencing, Cause & Effect and other Computational Thinking concepts (which can be applied in fields other than Computer Science). They have a blast making characters move, jump, dance and sing by connecting graphical programming blocks similar to LEGOs. They create their own interactive stories and games, and exercise their imagination and creativity. We also train robots to chase us around as puppies, and complete art projects using code that computers can understand. NOTE: Scratch Jr. is the primary tool used in this class. We also use Dash Robots and Ozobots to reinforce several of the concepts taught in different sessions.
