NSEEI 2K19
National Seminar on Environmental Education in India: Scope and Challenges (NSEEI 2K19)
Date : 29th – 31st January 2019
Venue:
Seminar complex, Kannur University, Mangattuparamba campus, Kerala, India
About the Seminar
Widespread industrialization and rapid urbanization often compels planners to overlook the importance of maintaining a natural balance in environment. The unbridled economic development have resulted ecological imbalance with disastrous fallouts such as destroying our valuable natural resources, degraded land, disappearing forests, endangered species, dangerous toxins, global warming etc. Environmental education is now being seen as an important instrument and a process that enables participation and learning by people of all ages. It creates an awareness and understanding of the evolving social, physical environment as a whole, its natural, man-made, cultural, spiritual resources together with the rational use and conservation of these resources for development.
In the present scenario, due to anthropogenic activities, environmental degradation is in an alarming rate and it results in various environmental issues in all over India. Recent deluge in Kerala may be cited as an example of nature’s fury against human activities. There should, therefore, be a reasonable compromise between developmental activities and conservation of the environment. As human beings continue to have significant impacts on the environment and its resources, education seems to be the best tool for providing the public with an understanding of the ramifications of their actions and behavior patterns in order to increase sensitivity and concern surrounding environmental issues. In this context, this type of National seminar is relevant and it will enhance the environmental education among publics.
