US GISN Interest Form: Regional Science Fair
Please use this form to indicate your interest in mentoring teachers and students in a student research project, working with US GLOBE Partners or judging entries to a Regional Science Fair. This projects aims to develop a regional GLOBE professional development community of GLOBE Partners and teachers venturing to fully integrate student research investigations into the classroom.
Starting in October 2015 and concluding at the Regional Science Fair in each geographic area, GLOBE teachers will have the opportunity to participate in or view recorded webinars on field investigations and science practices. Each month, one volunteer teacher will share how he or she used the webinar content in the classroom through a blog post with the broader community. During the next few months, teachers and students develop a student research investigation with assistance provided by a local partner, scientist or other member(s) of the GLOBE community.
Each United States GLOBE Partnership is eligible to apply for funding to send her or himself and teacher-student teams to the GLOBE Regional Science Fair to compete with other teams from the region.
Please note: All GLOBE students can develop and carry out a research project and submit it to the GLOBE International Virtual Science Fair. It is only the funding for teacher-student team travel to the face-to-face Regional Science Fair that may limit schools' attendance. Teacher-student teams providing their own travel expenses are invited and welcome!
