JSConf / CSSconf 2019 Call for Artists
For the second year we are formally inviting artists to present their work at JSConf and CSSconf EU.

We want to showcase and discuss creative, challenging and thought-provoking uses of technology. We want to include an artistic perspective on technology.

In particular we'd love your ideas to bring the "festival X" motto for the 10th anniversary of JSConf to life.

To get an idea of what our conferences are like (if you haven't been), please take a moment to watch our mood film from 2018:

For a rough idea of what people are doing, these past performances and pieces may be interesting:

Also: This is not our Call for Speakers. If you'd like to give an (artistic) talk please submit it through the regular CFS (https://2019.jsconf.eu/call-for-speakers/). Note, that we might, however, ask you to give a talk about your art project if applicable.

The things we are looking for
Please don't understand the example performances we linked above as a limit to your creativity nor as some kind of boundary of what you may do at the event.

Everything from music and AV performance over physical installations to purely virtual art would be great additions to JSConf and CSSconf. We are looking for contributions to the event that are inspiring to our attendees and in some form or another make the event more awesome. In particular we love work that takes advantage of our fantastic and huge event space (http://www.arena.berlin/en/).

You might have different ideas, and we'd love to hear them, but these things would fit super well in our existing plans:
- Groups or individuals performing music.
- Folks interested in performing on an instrument or as a singer as part of a larger production.
- Animated generative art or other form of art that can be presented on (projection) screens.

Who can be an artist at JSConf/CSSconf?
The organizing team are all volunteers and event amateurs that have gotten pretty good at this over the years. You (and if applicable your crew) might have never done a similar project before or also have gotten pretty good over the years. We welcome everyone at our events who is excited about doing something awesome. In particular, you might not consider yourself an artist and can still respond here :)
Does my stuff have to use CSS or JS?
No, but we also really appreciate it if it does include web technology.
What we can do for you
- Help work out your idea
- Provide funding for material
- Rent equipment for the event (projectors, lights, etc…)
- Organize and provide for travel to and from the event and accommodation in between
- If you have an agent (and please, please don't feel you need an agent to submit something here) we're happy to work with them on further details.
- Just ask about other things.
The event
CSSconf is on Friday, May 31st 2018.
JSConf is on Saturday and Sunday, June 1st and 2nd.
The days before the event are available for setup. Tear down needs to happen Sunday night.
