The John Deere Model A, produced from 1934 to 1952, was designed to run on gas and switch to kerosene during WWII when gasoline was scarce due to military operations. Over 300,000 Model A tractors were manufactured in John Deere's Waterloo, Iowa facility, including variations like AR, AO, AOS, AW, AN, AWN, AI, and ANH, each serving different farming tasks. In 2022, a restoration project began with a 1946 Model A donated to the FFA Alumni and Supporters organization by Sam Hanson. The project involved 12 FFA members and 13 Alumni, led by the Kesler family, with student involvement in disassembling, cataloging, and restoring parts. A National FFA Foundation Legacy Grant of $1,000 supported the project, aiding in buying replacement parts. The restored tractor was showcased at local events, with plans for future appearances.
