Rising Scholars are high-school or undergraduate students with an interest in healthcare who ARE NOT currently enrolled in a healthcare certificate or degree program. Scholars are undergraduate or graduate students who ARE currently enrolled in such a program.
Both programs provide students with academic training in healthcare topics and hands-on community-based experiential learning, although the Scholars program is more extensive. Students who are required to complete community-based experiential learning as part of their academic program may double-count these hours towards their AHEC Scholars requirements. The academic training must be completed in addition to the student's regular coursework.
