Denton Hometown Heroes Nomination Form
Purpose

The Denton Heroes Reception is designed to honor outstanding individuals who have demonstrated a longstanding commitment to serving and uplifting the Denton County community. Honorees should reflect a strong dedication to humanitarian efforts, community development, unity, and positive impact across areas such as education, mentorship, economic empowerment, civic leadership, faith-based service, youth advocacy, or other meaningful contributions that strengthen the community.

Eligibility Criteria

Nominees should reflect the vision and values upheld by the Denton Juneteenth Committee.

Nominees:
  1. Must be an advocate for unity and positive community engagement.
  2. Must have made significant contributions through service to the Denton County community.
  3. Should have lived, worked, or served in Denton County during the time of their contributions.
  4. Should demonstrate integrity, strong moral character, and community-centered values.
  5. Should not have received this recognition within the past five (5) years.
  6. May not be a current member of the Denton Juneteenth Committee or have served on the committee within the past year.
Nomination Process

Applications will be accepted during the official nomination period announced by the Denton Juneteenth Committee.

To be considered, nominations must include the following:

  1. Biographical background of the nominee
  2. Description of the nominee’s contributions to the community
  3. A statement explaining why the nominee deserves recognition
  4. One letter of support from an individual, organization, or community group
  5. Name and signature/contact information of the nominator

Incomplete applications may not be considered.

Selection & Approval Process
  1. All nominations will be reviewed by the Denton Juneteenth Committee.
  2. Award recipients will be selected based on community impact, service history, leadership, and alignment with the mission and values of the organization.
  3. Nominees must receive a majority vote from the committee for selection.
  4. Committee members must abstain from voting on nominations involving immediate family members.
  5. Honorees will be recognized during the Annual Denton Heroes Reception.
  6. Recipients are encouraged to attend the ceremony in person unless prevented by unforeseen circumstances.
