The Western Massachusetts Mathematics Partnership (WMMP) invites the submission of proposals for its 2026 Winter Institute to be held on January 31, 2026, 8:30 a.m. - 3:00 p.m at Mount Holyoke College. The Winter Institute will be a conference for PreK-16 math educators.
The theme of the Institute will be We Are Math: Cultivating Identity and Connection In Mathematics Education.

Workshop Session Format
Each workshop will be 75 minutes long and will be offered for groups of 10-20 participants. Participants will be PreK-16 math educators. Workshops will be planned and led by one or two facilitators - preferably from different grade ranges (elementary, secondary, higher education). If you are solo and would like assistance finding a co-facilitator, please contact Tara Brandt.
Workshop Session Expectations
- Material must be accessible to a PreK-16 audience, but can emphasize a particular grade range
- Participants will collaboratively do mathematics.
- Content will focus on working with/analyzing operations, and be connected to content standards from the 2017 Massachusetts Mathematics Framework.
- Participants will unpack explicit teacher moves to extend to the classroom.
- Workshops will ideally be facilitated by pairs from different grade ranges, but we welcome proposals from any pairs or individuals.
