Call for Papers
Thank you for your interest in speaking at OWASP AppSec Day on Friday the 19th of October 2018 in Melbourne, Australia.
Introduction
OWASP AppSec Day is Australia’s only conference dedicated to furthering Application Security. Providing a welcoming environment for the practitioners across all skill levels, AppSec Day brings together architects, developers, devops engineers, leaders, managers, researchers, security professionals, students and testers to explore application security, learn and share new skills, and network with other like minded professionals.

Format
Regular talks: 50 minutes
Workshops: 50-110 minutes (1 or 2 talk slots)
Areas of Focus
AppSec Day has a diverse and passionate audience of technology and security professionals, so we welcome talks and workshops for all skill levels. We welcome submissions related to the following focus areas:

DevSecOps/SecDevOps
- Integrating security into DevOps processes, architectures, tools and people.

Blue team
- Prevention and detection of security issues.

Cloud Security
- Design, deploy and operate applications securely in cloud environments.

End User Security
- Protecting end users and/or user education including implementing security controls, initiatives, strategies and war stories.

Mobile Application Security
- Security of mobile applications, frameworks and services.

API security
- Integrating security into a small, a medium or a large microservices architecture.

Integrations
- Authentication systems and interconnectedness of different applications.

War stories
- Experiences of real world security stories from the front line.

Role integration
- Integrating security professionals and software professionals to achieve shared secure development goals.

Secure Software Development Lifecycle
- Integrating security into the software development lifecycle.

Secure Code Assessments
- Developing and/or performing secure code development principles.

Security Architecture
- Architecting applications to be secure by design.

Web Application Security
- Security testing and defensive security controls.

Speaker Logistics
OWASP AppSec Day is an event run by a non-profit organisation, organised entirely by volunteers. So we would appreciate if you or your company would sponsor your travel and accommodation expenses to attend the event. However if this is not possible we may offer the following assistance for speakers that are not considered local:

- Travel arrangements (Economy flights)
- Accommodation (2 nights only)

All speakers and trainers will receive a complimentary conference ticket.

Terms
By your submission you agree to the following:

- Your talk is objective, stresses open source approaches and avoids references to any commercial offerings of your company.
- Avoid references to your company throughout the presentation with the exception of the bio aka "Who am I" slide
- All presentation slides should be available to be published on the conference website.
- Presentation may be recorded for publishing purposes. We will however, let you know beforehand.
