As an all-volunteer fund, our Board members are required to serve as hotline case managers every few weeks, back up hotline volunteers every few weeks, and to assist the rest of the Board in conducting the weekly business of the fund. We estimate that these tasks require a minimum of 5 hours per week, though your hotline week will likely take you a bit more time to complete. Knowing that you will have the support of the other Board members, are you comfortable with this level of commitment?
Your answer
Have you worked as a hotline volunteer for Magnolia or any other non-profit?
If yes, please give us your thoughts on the experience. If no, are you able to commit to additional time to train as a hotline volunteer?
Your answer
Our primary means of communication is email, a secure messaging application called Signal, Google Hangouts for meetings, and Facebook. At times there will be client situations that may require a rapid response by the Board. Do you feel comfortable with using these types of applications? Please discuss below any issues or challenges you anticipate by communicating this way.
Your answer
Is it possible for you to travel within Georgia for meetings, training, retreats, and fundraisers? While it is not a requirement to attend all events, we all do our best to make sure there is a Board presence at events during the year, and these tend to provide opportunities for networking and speaking that are beneficial to the Fund. Please discuss any challenges you may have to this.
