Transfer Request Form (HR-Classified)
A permanent classified employee desiring a change in working location, shift time, or working hours per day shall submit a voluntary transfer request according to these procedures:

Transfer Request Guidelines:
  1. Only permanent AUHSD classified employees who have passed probation may submit a transfer request.
  2. It is the sole responsibility of the employee to submit a transfer request to the HR-Classified department online, which includes entering accurate information and resubmitting new requests after old requests have expired.
  3. Transfer requests will expire at midnight on August 31st each year (anything submitted before midnight on August 31st will be deleted).  Therefore, new requests may be submitted each year starting at 12:00 AM on September 1st.
  4. For any classified vacancy, the HR-Classified department will only consider transfer requests that have already been submitted at the time hiring interviews are being scheduled by HR staff.  Employees whose requests meet this deadline will be invited to interview for vacancies that match their transfer request criteria.
  5. Employees may only request transfers within their current classification, unless the classification is an exception (see below).
  6. Bilingual classification transfer opportunities will be available to transfer candidates who are either currently in that same classification or who are working in a non-bilingual version of the classification and have previously passed the official HR Bilingual certification exam at the time hiring interviews are being scheduled.
  7. A transfer candidate in a bilingual classification who accepts a transfer to a non-bilingual classification in a lower salary range will be processed as a "voluntary demotion" per PC Rule 17.2.8, whereby the employee will be placed on the lower (non-bilingual) salary range at the salary step number they achieved in their previous (bilingual) classification.
  8. Transfer requests will be kept confidential. There will be no requirement, formally or informally, that supervisors approve transfer requests.
  9. Employees may contact the HR-Classified Office to obtain information about current vacancies.
Exceptions:  Employees in the following classifications may submit transfer requests for other classifications as outlined below.  Transfer candidates who accept such a transfer will receive immediate permanent status in the new classification and will not be required to complete a new probationary period.
  1. Instructional Assistants in Behavior Support, Special Abilities, or Adult Transition classifications may submit a transfer request for any other Instructional Assistant Behavior Support, Special Abilities, or Adult Transition classification.
  2. Secretaries may submit a transfer request for any other Secretary positions at the same salary range as their current classification (CSEA 51 or 53).
  3. Senior Administrative Assistants may submit transfer requests for other Senior Administrative positions at the same salary range as their current classification (CSEA 59 or 61).
  4. Warehouse Workers may submit a transfer request for any Warehouse Worker classification in the same salary range as their current classification (AFSCME 51 or 55).
