Stay at Home Trauma Care Class- Online via Zoom - Jan. 27 & 28, 2021
This is a new class that I have developed to help us all be prepared to handle trauma injuries that happen around our homes. This training is very beneficial currently due to the high number of people that are staying home to help stop the spread of the COVID-19 virus. Many of us are around the house and doing DIY projects or playing with young family members and we are increasing our risk of injury. We need to be prepared to deal with our injured family members using the supplies that we have around the house!
We will be using the Zoom online tool to conduct this course, so you will need a computer with a working camera or a remote video camera that attaches to your computer, as well as a working microphone and speakers.
You will need to sign up as a team, so there must be 2 people minimum taking the course together in order to participate fully. One team member will have to play the injured party and the other team member will have to treat and care for the injured family member!
You will be using what supplies you have available at home to treat the injuries. You are limited only by your imagination. I will resupply any actual first aid supplies that CERT keeps in storage that you use in the training, but you may be amazed at the items around your house that you can use to treat trauma injuries!
I will provide you with some excellent guidelines and procedures that you can use to guide you in your treatment. We will talk about how to stabilize, what help is needed, and where and how to transport the patient.
The training will be conducted over 2 evenings with each session lasting no longer than 3 hours. The class dates and times will be Wednesday and Thursday evenings (Jan. 27 & 28) from 6:30 pm – 9:30 pm. I am limiting the enrollment to 10 teams, so please sign up quickly if you want to participate! I will send the first 10 teams that sign up the information to login to the Zoom class meeting on Wednesday and Thursday so that you have the information prior to the start of the class. I will also send you the slides in a .pdf file ahead of time so that you can more easily follow the slides at home.
Look forward to working with you and thank you for registering for this training!
