Witches Walk Information for Downtown Businesses  

We are excited to bring Witches Walk back to downtown again this year. The event will be similar to last year with more focus on encouraging attendees to stop by bars and restaurants to sip and eat while also enjoying late shopping hours and other fun promotions at retail stores. Our target audience for this event is adults as there is an emphasis on "sip and shop" but of course, younger folks can join in as if it was a usual event downtown. 

What can you expect? Lots of customers, some dressed up as witches stopping in to shop, eat, or drink. Businesses are encouraged to provide something fun to entice shoppers in. This could be hosted snacks, a shopping special, or whatever you feel fits your business best. For bars and restaurants consider offering a witchy drink special. 

When: October 9th, starting at 6 pm (retail encouraged to stay open until 8 pm)

Who: Adults and friends who like to sip and shop

Where: Downtown Ames

Details: Volunteers will be handing out free beverage glasses to the first 300+ participants. Attendees will also receive a handout listing all businesses participating in Witches Walk, their special or promotion (think drink special, business discount, or hosted snacks), and open hours. We plan to promote the core of the event to be 6-8 pm but will list later hours for bars and restaurants to encourage attendees to stay later and continue to enjoy the evening. Included on the handout will also be a bingo/challenge encouraging attendees to visit retail stores, bars/restaurants, and complete other event activities for a chance to win a prize basket(s) of goodies and gift cards to downtown businesses. We will again also encourage a few businesses to stage a photo backdrop for participants to take photos. 

To participate please fill out the form below. We strongly encourage you to consider offering a special promotion and creating a festive atmosphere that evening. 

If you're able, please consider donating a gift card or gift item for $25 or less to be included in the prize package. Items can be dropped off at the Ames Regional Economic Alliance (304 Main Street). We also need a couple of businesses that are interested in hosting a photo backdrop outside of your business. You can include interest in these items in the form.
