Reed City Smithsonian 2020 Volunteer Signup
Thank you for your interest in our program!

The Reed City Area District Library is excited to be one of 6 sites in Michigan selected to host the Smithsonian Museum on Mainstreet Exhibit: Crossroad Change in Rural America. The main exhibit will be installed at the Reed City Depot. The carefully curated, interactive design explores Americas rural past and examines the challenges and triumphs of small towns across our nation.

The library and other organizations in our community are planning programs to compliment the exhibit during the 6 week run at the depot. Our grand opening is scheduled for February 1st, at 10 am. We will publish our preliminary schedule soon.

Could you spare a few hours? Anyone can be a Smithsonian Guide and we hope that you will consider donating your time. Our primary need is for volunteers to staff the exhibit as guides during open hours from Thursday to Sunday. We expect to host group tours and individuals from across our region. We will also need volunteers to assist with programming needs at the library and at the depot. If you are a member of a community group, perhaps your group could donate a day or two of guide service.

Aside from the tremendous gift of your time, volunteers will enjoy a sneak peek on Friday, January 31st with a short reception to follow.

PLEASE TAKE A FEW MOMENTS TO FILL OUT THIS SIMPLE FORM AND WE WILL CONTACT YOU WITH FURTHER DETAILS.
