2020-2021 Schools of Hope Volunteer Sign-Up Form
Dear Prospective Tutor,
Thank you for your interest in volunteering for the Schools of Hope program with United Way of the Wine Country! People like you are making an incredible difference in the reading skills of our K-3 students across Sonoma County.
We are currently accepting applications for volunteers interested in tutoring during the 2020-2021 school year. We ask our volunteers to commit to tutoring for a minimum of one 30-minute tutoring session per week during the school year from October 2020 to May 2021.
We ask all new volunteers to attend a volunteer orientation as part of the application process. Orientations for the 2020-2021 school year will be held in August through September. You will have the opportunity to select which orientation you would like to attend as you are completing this form.
During your orientation, you will be given information on how to complete requirements for the program, including a TB test and fingerprint background check. You will also be able to select the school where you would like to tutor. There are currently over 25 schools participating in the program in Sonoma County. Tutoring takes place during the school day. Available tutoring days and times vary by school. We will work together to find a school that suits your needs.
Once you have selected a school, you will need to attend a Tutor Training session at your chosen school site. Tutor Trainings are scheduled by each individual school and will last approximately one hour.
If you have any questions about the application process, please contact Ariel Vipond, Community Benefit Coordinator, by phone at 707-528-4485 ext. 103, or by e-mail at
Thank you again for your willingness to effect incredible change in our community!
