This group is for people with lived experience of madness, crisis, distress, extreme states, or psychiatric systems to gather, share, and explore what healing and resistance look like outside of traditional systems and medical model frameworks.

Rooted in Mad Pride history, we reject the pathology and criminalization placed on our minds, bodies, and ways of being.

"We believe in cognitive liberty and bodily autonomy, so this is a space where you can be your weirdest, maddest, most neuro atypical self and we won't get coercive, shamey, or call in cops, pros, or 911. Come be cute and weird with us."

We can own what works for us without putting it on others (ex: not taking meds, taking meds, not using systems, using systems, alternatives, holistic healing, peer respites, hospitalization)

We can move feely (ex: getting up to walk around, be on the go)

We can do body things on + off camera (ex: smoking cigs, eating, fidgeting, have the facial expressions they need to)

We can have things going on in the background * if muted* (like pets, small humans, doing some kind of activity)

We can zoom in however we need to (ex: while driving, at work, from a crowded cafe)

We can not be expected to "do language right". We can resist using buzzwords and just talk the way we do. We do not have to know every new term.

We can meet without systematizing everything. This group does not emphasize structure and does not appeal to "pRoFesSiOnAliSm".

We can allow ourselves to be messy. We can figure things out together. Conflict and differences exist.

We move at the speed of trust. We trust people are acting in our best interest and use common sense.

We have chosen to lean away from sharing the link with people who hold specific privileges or occupy roles that would be in conflict with the group or create power imbalances that would be unhelpful to others. Examples of conflicts include holding clinical licensure and/or being a mandated reporter.

I have limited access and/or means, and am seeking community

I have enough access to many different spaces and/or means, therefore I have less need. So if the group is full I'm cool with making space for others to attend before me.

I am a provider, hold clinical licensure, or have other aspects of privilege that are in conflict with the group's intention or may create a power imbalance that does not feel helpful for others. (Detail below using the "Other" space and we can chat more)
