Over 8 weeks, students accepted will learn a new topic/skill each week choosing from such topics as Calligraphy, Chinese Herbs, Jewelry Making, Healthy Cooking, Dance, Studio Art, and more at absolutely no cost to them. 3 "seniors" aged 55 and older and 3 "juniors" aged 19 and younger will be matched together for the program to create bridges between generations. Each senior will be matched with one junior and vice versa.
After review of each application, applicants moving forward will be interviewed in person as part of the final screening and a group of 6 total will be created for the duration of the weeks.
The process will involve two phone calls to references who we'll chat with to get to know before your potential interview in-person.
You will be notified whether or not we move forward with your application and you will have the option to be on our waitlist for the Fall and also skip the application process for the next round of upcoming programs we do in the intergenerational programming.
Classes will be held at Unity Lutheran Church at 1212 W Balmoral Ave, Chicago, IL 60640 starting October 7, 2017 each Saturday from 9am to 11am until December 2nd. There will be no class for Thanksgiving weekend on November 25th.
