UDT Junior Company Auditions Application - 2020/2021 Season
Name (First & Last)
Parent and/or student cell phone number
How many years of ballet experience do you have?
In what other dance styles have you been trained? (select all that apply)
If accepted into UDT Junior Company, I commit to attend all rehearsals (generally will take place on Mondays from 7-8:30pm and some Saturdays at UDS Cleveland), all dress rehearsals and shows in which I am involved, and at least two dance classes per week at UDS (one class must be a ballet class). I also understand that rehearsals may be longer than anticipated, and additional rehearsals may be called.
Please list and explain any special talents you have that the directors should know about as they are casting? Give examples. (Eg: gymnastics/tumbling, dance tricks, acting experience, etc.)
Essay: Please explain 1. why you want to be a part of UDT Junior Company, 2. your view of how you can worship through dance, and 3. a summary of your relationship with Christ. (Parent may assist with writing this essay but we ask that all content would come from student auditioning).
Please agree to the following statements by placing a check next to each.
I understand that prospective UDT Jr. Company members are required to audition. Auditioning does not guarantee a company position. If accepted, all auditionees will be required to commit to a year-long membership.
I understand that Jr. Company membership is on an annual basis. Dancers must re-audition each year.
I understand that Jr. Company members are required to attend at least two classes a week at UDS to advance their training, including at least one ballet class. If a Jr. Company member fails to attend all of their classes for three consecutive weeks, the directors reserve the right to give away that member’s part(s).
I understand that Jr. Company members are required to be at all rehearsals, dress rehearsals, meetings, and performances. I also understand that rehearsals may be longer than anticipated, and additional rehearsals may be called.
I understand that Jr. Company members must abide by the UDT Junior Company dress code (the same dress code worn in members’ ballet classes) while in company rehearsals.
I understand that Jr. Company members are only allowed two excused absences from rehearsals per semester. One unexcused absence is grounds for dismissal. Absences must be communicated to the Jr. Company Director at least one week prior to the missed rehearsal to be considered excused (unless it is an unforeseen circumstance such as sickness or family emergency).
I understand that Jr. Company members who wish to step down must give the director a minimum of a 30 days written notice of intent to no longer dance with Jr. Company as well as pay the $35 contract breakage fee.
I understand that if accepted, each Jr. Company member will pay $200 per semester. The $200 semester fee will be due by the first rehearsal of each fall and spring semester.
I understand that being in Junior Company is an honor but also a serious commitment. There are possibilities of late night and multiple rehearsals within one week. There is a strict cap on the number of slots available in Junior Company and acceptance is not guaranteed. Selections will be made based on talent, maturity, and character.
