Oakland Devo is an Oakland based mountain bike club. If you live outside of Oakland, be sure to investigate if there's a middle school club in your city.

What is the rider's experience with a mountain bike? *

We welcome athletes of all skill and experience level – but it's important for us to have an initial idea of your child's experience on a bike. We want to make sure everyone is able to have fun and is safe on our rides and we group our kids based on their riding ability. Sometimes friends may end up in a different group, and while that may not be fun for your child, it's really important that we make ensure everyone rides at their level so they are safe and are able to properly progress and build skills.

Below is our pre-season schedule for 2026. Some events may be cancelled or rescheduled depending on rain and trail conditions.

Our preseason Fun Rides are open to all athletes and parents/guardians who are interested in riding with us for our 2026 season. These rides are an opportunity for prospective riders to get to know us and see how much fun it is to ride with our team – as well as a chance for returning riders to reconnect and get excited about our upcoming season.

We do have a couple program specific rides:

GRiT (Girls Riding Together) which is just for female or female identifying riders.
Pathfinder: The goal of the Trek NICA Pathfinders Scholarship is to bring greater diversity, equity and inclusion to our team. This season we are inviting prospective Pathfinders to join our Saturday October 25, 2025 10am-1pm Fun Ride.

How parents/guardians can participate *

Parent involvement contributes to a better experience for all riders and coaches. We are an all volunteer organization and the magic that makes this program work is having parents/guardians involved and making things happen. If you ride bikes, we'd love for you to join us as a coach. If you're not a mountain biker, that's ok... we can teach you if you get involved early in the season. We may have to limit the number of kids we can accommodate if we don't have enough coaches. If you do not ride there are also other important ways for you to contribute listed below. Please let us know how you will help.

Are you interested in applying for the TREK/NICA Pathfinders Scholarship

The Trek/NICA Pathfinders Scholarship provides students of color with the bikes, gear, and resources needed to overcome historical barriers to the sport. Recipients get a Trek mountain bike, a helmet, gear, and support for a season of riding. Please note, this program is administered by NICA and Oakland Devo coaches do not pick the recipients.
Important Pathfinders Dates:

August 15, 2025: Application opens
September 19, 2025: Application closes
October 7, 2025: Scholarship recipients notified (at the earliest)
November 7, 2025: Deadline for submitting scholarship information to receive bikes by the start of the season
December 5, 2025: Final deadline for providing scholarship information; incomplete scholarships will be forfeited
