Open Call for Site-Specific performances
CALL FOR ARTISTS: Risk/Reward seeks individual artists or collectives that would like to create a short form ( under 10 minute) performance in a site-specific location along the First Thursday Gallery walk in the Pearl District of Portland, Oregon on August 2nd. Longer or durational performance will be considered on a case by case basis. One development workshop will be offered to discuss and workshop your piece prior to the festival.

About Risk/Reward:
Risk/Reward champions artists and audiences who push the boundaries of the performing arts. We promote a supportive and equitable arts ecology that: Empowers artists who live and work in our region. Cultivates audiences that are hungry for adventurous performance work. Forges collaborations across artistic disciplines and communities. Ignites ideas and provokes possibilities.

About PAVEMENT: National and local artists will engage with the environment and the community through short form site-specific performances in public spaces throughout the First Thursday gallery walk enlivening our streets with unexpected images and experiences.

Submissions should:
Be site-specific
You don’t need to know the exact site of your performance, but please put any architectural elements that your piece requires ( sidewalk, stairs, elevated platform, tree etc.)
Be self contained ( any technical elements/props must be part of the performance and require no prior set up or clean up)
- All types of performances will be considered including dance, performance art, theatre, etc.)

Artists are required to:
-Attend meeting/workshop on July 30th at Artists Rep to rehearse and get feedback.
-Be available at least two hours before the start of the event for a dry run/walk through.
