The Leadership Development Council (LDC) is a diverse group of LGBTQ professionals and allies dedicated to the preservation and future growth of the Pride Center of the Capital Region. The Council’s mission is to develop and empower young LGBTQ and allied professionals and develop a new generation of leaders within our community.
Qualifications for the Leadership Development Council• LDC Members must: o be residing in the Capital Region. o complete a formal application and interview process to participate on the council. o make a minimum of 1 year commitment and attend monthly meetings. The time commitment is around 2-5 hours per month. o be at least 18 and pre-retirement age who identify as LGBTQ or who are allies. o must be working professionals (exceptions will be made should a member face a job transition). o commit to monetarily donate at least once per fiscal year to the Center. o be committed to the work of the Center and diversity and inclusion. o possess leadership ability as demonstrated by professional position, previous or current volunteer work, or member recommendation.
Activities of Leadership Development Council • Raise visibility and awareness of the Pride Center of the Capital Region and its programs • Learn about board governance responsibilities by attending board and committee meetings • Actively engage as donors of the Center and help raise funds • Recruit individuals to attend and participate in Center special events and initiatives • Attend monthly Pride MYXer events and help increase attendance • Coordinate and participate in volunteer opportunities • Attend professional development trainings and programs • Help cultivate and develop emerging leaders within our community • Serving in Leadership position within the Leadership Development Council
