Youmacon Marketplace Crew Application Form

Hello and welcome!  

Thank you for your interest in applying for Youmacon’s Marketplace Crew! Every department is run by many volunteers on a yearly basis to ensure those attending the convention enjoy their time. Without the help of our dedicated volunteers, attendees, guests, merchants, and support teams, Youmacon would not be standing where it is today.  

 

Are you interested in helping and learning the basics inner working of how a convention is run?  

Are you interested in helping others with a warm friendly smile?  

Are you interested in making a positive impact on the con and the attendees?

Are you interested in volunteering, but do not know where to start?  

Well look no further! The Yokai Squad is looking for highly motivated individuals to join!   

 

Areas where crew members are needed: 

  • Marketplace Merchandise Sales Team ( be able to work from Thursday afternoon to Sunday afternoon

  • Marketplace Crew 

  • Line Ops | Badge check 

  • Ribbon Team | Promotions

  • Marketplace Public Safety 

  

Requirements for joining Marketplace Crew:  

 

  • You must be 18+ at the time of applying.  

  • Must be able to work a minimum of 24+ hours over the convention weekend.  

  • Must know a decent amount of knowledge of Anime, Manga, Asian drama, and music. (for working in the Marketplace side of the halls)

  • Must have basic math skills.  

  • Must have great customer service skills.  

  • Translators / ASL interpreters (not a must, but a great asset to have joined the team).  

 

 Crew Perks:  

 

  • Access to the Marketplace crew lounge for snacks and breaks.  

  • Free crew badge.  

  • Free food vouchers or daily cash cards for food.  

  • Free crew hotel room (with the minimum of 24+ hours of work).  

  • Exclusive staff-only hours in the Dealers Room.  

  • A neat Youmacon Marketplace swag bag (first year only).  

  • Free Youmacon crew shirt.  

  • Free Youmacon name badge to wear during the event only.  

  • An invitation to the crew dinner after the convention.  

  • Flexible scheduling.  

 

Joining the Marketplace Gopher Team:  

Not sure if you want to commit? That is OK! Signing up to volunteer to help with many parts that keep the con running smooth is a wonderful way to get an idea what it takes to make the con run. This may include helping with the lines, helping to check-in artists and vendors at load in, answering questions about con events, checking badges at the door, keeping our lines in check, keeping our exit door free of fire and safety hazards, and other tasks we need help with. These are subject to change, and are based on the number of hours you put in.  

 

Requirements for joining Marketplace Gopher Team:  

 

  • You must be 18 years of age at the time of applying.  

  • Must have a general weekend badge (3Day badges only).   

  • Must be able to work a minimum of 4 – 19 hours.  

  • Must have great customer service skills. 

  • Translators / ASL interpreters (not necessary but a great asset to have on the team). 

 

Incentives - Marketplace Gopher Team: 

 

 After four (4) hours of work: we will offer you access to the crew lounge for the day you volunteer only. Gopher pin & water bottle. 

After eight (8) hours of work: we will offer you access to the crew lounge for the day you volunteer only. You will receive a nifty Youmacon gopher swag pack (exclusive Youmacon gopher shirt, collective badge and pin and water bottle).  

 After twelve (12) hours of work: we will offer you access to the crew lounge for the day you volunteer only. You will receive a nifty Youmacon gopher swag pack (exclusive Youmacon gopher shirt, collective badge and pin and water bottle). 

    Youmacon gopher swag pack (exclusive Youmacon gopher shirt, collective badge and pin and water bottle) and Exchange for weekend badge for the following year. Exchange for full weekend badge will take place a week after the convention has ended.

  After sixteen or more (16+) hours of work: we will offer you access to the crew lounge for the day you volunteer only. You will receive a nifty Youmacon gopher swag pack (exclusive Youmacon gopher shirt, collective badge, bag, pin, and water bottle) and Exchange for weekend badge for the following year. Exchange for full Weekend Badge will take place a week after the convention has ended.
