Prospective Associate Belief and Behavior Assessment
We are used to organizations having admission standards. Schools, workplaces and social clubs have them. People should have them for the people in their lives as well. I want to include people in my life who treat people with kindness and respect and exclude those who do not. Not because I have never made those same mistakes or because I am better than those who do, but because I want to create and experience true well-being for myself and others and it’s important to pick the appropriate people with the appropriate resources.

I believe that all people should be treated with kindness and respect even if that means being clear with them that their beliefs or behaviors do not suit you. I believe that people’s rights deserve to be respected no matter what. Finally, a person’s value is not determined by whether or not someone wants to spend time with them or include them in their life.

Please answer truthfully. I am assigning points to answers that match my beliefs, but I would rather have a true answer than one that matches my beliefs. The perfect recipe for self-inflicted misery is an irrational desire for the approval of others or an irrational fear of the disapproval of others.

A lot of these questions have to do with rights. For a thorough analysis of the concept of rights, review https://plato.stanford.edu/entries/rights/

Do you believe in unalienable human rights?
Unalienable means unable to be illegitimately taken from or given away by the possessor. Unalienable human rights are shared by all human beings. Rights are permissions to do certain things and/or expect certain things. For example, the right to exist equals the permission to exist and the permission to expect others to not interfere with your existence. Rights also imply responsibilities. If your rights are equal to those of others, they have a responsibility to respect your rights and you have a responsibility to respect their rights.

Do all human beings have an unalienable right to create and experience well-being?
Well-being is the possession of or ability to acquire essential resources like healthy food, clean water, a home, clothing, healthcare, safety, protection, autonomy, education, psychological and emotional health, unconditional self-acceptance, healthy relationships, compassion, and wisdom.
1 point
Do all human beings have an unalienable right to protect themselves and others from those who create ill-being for others?
Ill-being is the absence of or the inability to acquire the essential resources that produce well-being.
1 point
Do you believe you have a responsibility to not create ill-being for others?
1 point
Do you refuse to create well-being for yourself if it means creating ill-being for others?
1 point
Why do you refuse or not refuse to create well-being for yourself it it means creating ill-being for others?
Your answer
Do you believe a person's rights are just as much their property as any physical thing they might own?
This doesn't mean that people can't lose their rights if they break certain regulations, it means that rights belong to people as long as their behavior meets certain expectations.
1 point
Do you believe violating a person's rights is a theft of what is owed to them?
For example, if I have a right to a quiet work space and a co-worker violates their duty to respect my right to a quiet work space by being very loud, they are stealing the silence and concentration I would have if they were quiet or if I have a right to privacy as long as I do not engage in inappropriate behavior and the government spies on me without a search warrant or probable cause, it is stealing the privacy I would have had.
1 point
Do you believe citizenship implies an agreement to respect the rights of other citizens?
This means that when someone accepts citizenship they also accept the duty to respect the rights of other citizens. For example, a citizen not only has the right to vote but also the duty to respect the right of other citizens to vote.

Is it more important to stand up against injustice or to stand up for the national anthem?
1 point
Do you think it's wise to understand other people's beliefs before deciding how much you want to associate with them?
This means you don't assume someone's beliefs and behaviors are compatible with you or safe to be around - you take your time to get to know a person's beliefs and behaviors before trusting them in ways that expose you to significant risks.
1 point
Do you respect people's autonomy?
This means you respect the right of others to make their own choices without trying to coerce them into making the choices that you want them to make - it doesn't mean you never try to influence their choices, it means you don't see other people as mere pawns to be controlled
1 point
Do you try to insult, ridicule, mock or otherwise put people down?
This doesn't mean you don't disagree with others or always think their behavior is appropriate - it means you don't try to psychological abuse others by making them believe their right to accept themselves is conditional upon how well their behavior, goals, possessions etc. meet your standards - another way to put is "do you ever communicate contempt to others"

Do you believe that people with more money than others are superior to people with less money than others?
1 point
Do you try to impose your religious beliefs on others?
Examples of this would be trying to create laws that reflect your religious beliefs while ignoring the right of other citizens to live their lives according to their own religious beliefs. Telling others they will go to hell if they don't subscribe to your religion is a subtle example.
1 point
Do you agree with racist beliefs?
A racist belief includes the idea that the members of one race should be treated with more or less respect, kindness, consideration or have more or less rights than members of another race because of the superiority or inferiority of traits associated with one race relative to another race. All members of race x must defer to any member of race y is an example of a racist belief.
1 point
Do you discriminate against other people because of their sexual orientation?
Examples would be making people with a sexual orientation you do not approve of feel inferior, defective or afraid of ridicule. Another example would be trying to create laws that deny rights to certain people because of their sexual orientation.
1 point
Do you try to interfere with people's right to form their own beliefs?
This does not mean you never disagree with other people's beliefs or try to influence their beliefs. It means that you don't even recognize the right of others to form their own beliefs by thinking critically and making independent judgments about what others are telling them.
1 point
Do you believe some people are winners and some people are losers?

Thank you for providing honest answers to these questions. After reviewing feedback from early respondents, I am adding the following clarifications.

- I developed this tool to help me explore ways to identify people with beliefs and behaviors that I find compatible
- A wrong answer does not mean the answer you provided is wrong for you
- A wrong answer is simply an answer that I consider wrong for me
- Google forms does not provide me with the option to use the word preferred instead of wrong. If it did, I would.
- The questions are biased towards what I am looking for - my goal was not to create the perfect survey or to create a survey that could be used by anyone else - if you want to create a survey that works better for you, please feel free to do so
- Hopefully, answering this survey can help you think about the kinds of questions you want to ask prospective associates or seeing the way others have answered these questions can provide you with some insight into what people think about the way people should be treated
- Thanks for taking the time to answer my questions

After completing this form, you will see a summary of all responses by all respondents along with the answers that I prefer people I include in my life to give.
