KC Focus on Abortion Action Week
As part of the Missouri Abortion Access Project (MAAP)**, AU and our Kansas City partners are organizing these series of events in the Kansas City area to educate on abortion access, the harms of denying abortion access, the connection between abortion access to inclusive religious freedom and church state separation, and raise awareness about the lawsuit filed to overturn the state's abortion ban.

Location: Gallery @ All Souls UU Church (4501 Walnut Street, Kansas City, MO)

Description: (light snacks and drinks provided) Join members from 20+ local cosponsoring organizations and congregations as we open the Focus on Abortion photojournalism exhibit! The is a powerful collections that aims to encourage open dialogue around the subject by telling the stories of people who have had abortions, as well as the stories of their partners, health care providers, and others. Special Guest: Brian Silva, Americans United for Separation of Church & State. You can also view the exhibit Monday-Friday from 10 a.m. – 4 p.m. and on Sundays from 10 a.m. – 2 p.m. through Jan 14.

1/8 - TRAINING: Having More Effective Conversations About Abortion *


Date/Time: Monday, January 8, 2024 @ 5:30pm - 7:30pm

Location: Conover @ All Souls UU Church (4501 Walnut Street, Kansas City, MO)

Description: (dinner provided): Learn powerful ways to talk about abortion, the Missouri abortion access lawsuit & project, and how church-state separation and religious freedom run through it all. With these tools and skills, participants will be able to help change the conversation and move the needle of support on these topics in any situation. Facilitated by Americans United for Separation of Church & State, Planned Parenthood Great Plains, and Abortion Action MO.

Because this training is highly interactive with attendees working in small breakout groups with a facilitator, attendance is limited.

1/9 - FAITH LEADER MEETING: Having More Effective Conversations About Abortion *


Date/Time: Monday, January 9, 2024 @ 10am - 11am

Location: Conover @ All Souls UU Church (4501 Walnut Street, Kansas City, MO)

Description: (coffee and snacks provided) Join faith leaders from throughout the greater Kansas City area for a discussion around the topic of abortion, religious freedom and church state separation. Learn from each other on ways to connect with congregants and community members as faith leaders about these difficult issues.
