*SUMMER RESEARCH EXPERIENCE FOR HIGH SCHOOL STUDENTS**MUST BE 14 YEARS OLD TO PARTICIPATE IN STEP, PER UC POLICY*
To apply for 2018 STEP:1. fill out all fields on this electronic form, including contact information for one reference2. upload ½ - ¾ page statement of interest (single-spaced)3. upload resume(The last two questions on the form ask you to upload your statement of interest & resume.) Program Elements: -- Orientation (including Lab & Fire Safety Trainings; week of June 11)-- Professional Development & Research Workshops-- Hands-on Lab Experience -- Poster Session at CCBM Open House
Important Program Dates & Requirements:-- STEP pre-orientation informational session-- STEP orientation, including lab & fire safety trainings (week of June 11)-- 1 - 9 weeks of lab experience during summer, 5 hrs/day (STEP participants choose which weeks to do research)-- STEP high school students must attend in 3 out of 5 total workshops throughout the summer (workshop dates to be announced soon)-- STEP high school students to participate in poster session during CCBM Open House, 4-6pm, Monday, October 22 at UC Merced
The Science & Technology Enrichment Program provides $150 per student to show appreciation for participation efforts. Per NSF Guidelines, funding is only available to U.S. citizens, U.S. nationals or permanent residents. Those that are not U.S. citizens, U.S. nationals or permanent residents can still apply for the Science & Technology Enrichment Program (STEP) and are encouraged to do so.
The program will begin the week of June 11, commencing with an orientation at UC Merced (details will be provided to finalists).
