The Sustainability Champion Award honors Cal Poly Humboldt students and employees whose practices have deepened a culture of sustainability, have furthered the integration of sustainability into institutional practices and operations, and/or reduced the environmental footprint.
The award is open to employees at Cal Poly Humboldt, including faculty, paid student assistants, campus professional staff and employees of auxiliary and self-support programs and centers.
* Individuals may nominate themselves.
The three award categories are:
- Faculty Sustainability Champion
- Student Sustainability Champion
- Staff Sustainability Champion (Professional, Non-Student)
Each Sustainability Champion will receive a trophy and a feature profile in campus publications. Awardees will be honored at a ceremony held in April during Earth Week, a series of events in celebration of Earth Day.
Sustainability Champions exemplify innovative solutions that encourage cooperation and partnership, and that seamlessly integrate sustainability into the campus culture. They have had a significant impact on the programs and processes that reduce the university’s footprint, engage the campus community, and enhance the core value of sustainability in their daily actions.
*Those who have sustainability in their job title or have sustainability as an obligatory aspect of their job (e.g., Office of Sustainability staff, Sustainability Librarian and the Faculty Sustainability Fellow) are not eligible for the award.
