The Mayor's Office of Returning Citizens is hosting a CORI Sealing and Expungement Workshop with Harvard Defenders on March 28th 3:00-4:30pm at the ORC offices (30 Dimock Street Floor 2, Roxbury MA).
Harvard Defenders is a student-run public defense organization and the sole legal service provider in Massachusetts offering pro bono representation to low-income individuals in criminal show-cause hearings. Each year, Defenders represent clients accused of a wide array of charges, such as assault and battery, larceny, shoplifting, assault with a dangerous weapon, criminal harassment, and identity fraud. In addition, Harvard Defenders assists clients in sealing their Criminal Offender Record Information (CORI) through the administrative sealing process. The organization's full-time telephone referral service is dedicated to helping callers understand their legal needs and directing them to other legal service agencies. Harvard Defenders is committed to mitigating the adverse effects of the criminal legal system on community members through a client-centered, empathetic, and persuasive legal approach.
Please RSVP below if you plan to attend.
We recommend pulling your CORI prior so you know exactly what is on your record and can determine sealing/expungement eligibility with the Harvard Defenders. You can pull your own CORI for free (after filling out an indigency waiver) at https://icori.chs.state.ma.us/icori/ext/global/landing.action?page=1&m=presentLanding&bod=1708012718033 . If you need assistance pulling your CORI, please connect with your ORC case manager who can assist you. You should still attend even if you didn't have time to pull your CORI prior.
We look forward to seeing you March 28th!
