NYS Pistol Permit Course (Clinton, Essex, Franklin, Hamilton, Herkimer, Saratoga, St Lawrence, Washington & Warren County) 
NYS Pistol Permit Course
This course has been approved by Clinton, Essex, Franklin, Saratoga, St Lawrence, Herkimer, Hamilton, Washington, and Warren County to be instructed by Ian Dunbar with Blue Talon Firearm Training. 

If your county is not listed, PLEASE call your county clerk's office to confirm they will accept Blue Talon's certificate of completion, prior to registration. 

This course is required in order to complete the application process to obtain a NYS Concealed Carry Pistol Permit. 

This is an 18-hour course. (16 hours of theory in class, 2 hours of practical in range) 
The cost for this course is $250 (This includes ALL necessary course materials and equipment required to meet the NY Qualification Standard) DEPOSIT MUST BE PAID IN ORDER FOR YOUR SPOT TO BE HELD
*Warren County Students Qualification will be $35 and will be held at either Chestertown or Schroon Lake Range 

Prior to class, an email will be sent with your course dates and locations. 

Cancellation Policy for Blue Talon: Blue Talon may cancel classes due to inclement weather or if the minimum requirement of three students per class is not fulfilled at venues outside the local area (Clinton County). Students will be notified by TEXT, and EMAIL

CLINTON COUNTY PROCESS*

Application Process:  

Step 1:  Obtain and complete pistol permit application, including fingerprints (a Division of Criminal Justice Services check will be performed prior to you being able to qualify for enrollment in the firearm training course).  

Step 2:  Complete the in-person 16-hour curriculum and the two (2) hour live-fire range training.  

Step 3:  Bring your training certificate to the Clinton County Clerk’s Office to allow for further processing of your application.  


FRANKLIN COUNTY PROCESS*

Application Process:  

Step 1:  Obtain and complete pistol permit application, including fingerprints (a Division of Criminal Justice Services check will be performed prior to you being able to qualify for enrollment in the firearm training course).  

Step 2:  Complete the in-person 16-hour curriculum and the two (2) hour live-fire range training.  

Step 3:  Have your certificate of completion signed by the course instructor and returned to the issuing department.


WARREN COUNTY PROCESS*

Warren County Students Qualification will be $35 and will be held at either Chestertown or Schroon Lake Range

DEPOSITS - AS OF 06/27/2024 are MANDATORY and non-refundable. Deposits can currently be processed through PayPal, Credit Cards, Checks or Money Orders are accepted - Pay to the Order of Blue Talon Firearms Training. TRANSFER: Your registration may be TRANSFERRED to another course date with 72 hours notice. 
If you need to reschedule, please e-mail Ian: idunbar@bluetalonfirearmtraining.com with your desired course date. When requesting to reschedule your class, Please note "Reschedule Request" with your LAST NAME in the subject line of your email. 

BAD CHECKS: Checks deposited and then returned by the bank for insufficient funds will be subject to a $50 fee.

*If you have a certificate of relief, you must provide a copy of the paperwork from the court prior to taking this class.
