AERC/ADAC Fellowship Application
In order to be considered for a Fellowship with the Applied Environmental Research Center (AERC) and Arctic Domain Awareness Center (ADAC), please fully complete and submit this application form. Student information shared via this application will be treated in compliance with the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA).

Applications are reviewed by committee in a process similar to job applications. Applicants will be notified of their status following review via email.

REQUIREMENTS:

This opportunity is funded by the U.S. Department of Homeland Security (DHS), Science and Technology (S&T) Directorate, Office of University Programs (OUP) under their Scientific Leadership Award (SLA) program. The SLA creatively engages students and faculty in research relevant to the Homeland Security Enterprise (HSE).

The program allows SLA recipients to learn techniques, build capacity, and connect with organizations that support homeland security mission areas. These awards support the development of enduring educational and research capabilities within the DHS Minority Serving Institution (MSI) community across the United States. Each Scientific Leadership Award recipient is required to partner with a DHS Center of Excellence (COE). The COE partnership for this opportunity is the Arctic Domain Awareness Center (ADAC) which is hosted by the University of Alaska Anchorage (UAA).
 
Eligibility requirements for this opportunity include: 

Current full-time enrollment as an undergraduate or graduate student

Students must be an enrolled degree-seeking program in a STEM related discipline

U.S. Citizenship (must be able to provide proof)

Maintenance of cumulative GPA of 3.30 or higher on 4.00 scale, averaged over all academic terms during which funding is provided 

Ability to pass a background check as required by any position in the homeland security field 

Agreement (contracted) to proactively seek and obtain paid employment within the Homeland Security Enterprise (or approved agency; i.e., federal, state, local, tribal government) for at least one year after graduation
