La Center United Board Of Directors Nomination Form
La Center United is a community coalition made up of individuals, businesses, and agencies who all share a vision for a healthy and resilient community. We believe in the power of positive community change when we all work together.

The coalition formed as a grassroots effort by concerned citizens in 2013. In 2014, La Center United incorporated as a 501 (c) (3) non-profit organization, and in 2015 we were awarded a federal Drug Free Communities Support Program grant for $125,000 a year for five years. With this funding, we are working to increase community collaboration and reduce substance use and mental health issues facing today’s youth.

We are currently seeking nominations for the Executive Board of La Center United. The Executive Board consists of 1 President, 1 Vice Presidents, 1 Secretary, 1 Treasurer, 1 Communications Person, and 2 Community Member Representatives.

Those elected to each position will serve two-year terms, with a limit of no more than two consecutive terms in the same board position.

Candidate portfolio’s will be presented to the coalition through a special newsletter. The election will be held during a special February Meeting (TBA).

Board Chair:
Serves as a director of the organization, and as a member of the executive board. Serves as the liaison with Project coordinator of the fiscal agent. Holds board members, coordinator and committees accountable for their responsibilities. Facilitates formation of ad-hoc work groups. Manages other duties as necessary for the effective functioning of La Center United.

Vice-Chair:
Serves as a director of the organization, and as a member of the executive board. Serves as an assistant to the chair and assumes duties of the chair in their absence. Serves as chair of the membership subcommittee. Maintains and presents membership roster for attendance sign-in at La Center united meetings.

Secretary:
Serves as a director of the organization, and as a member of the executive board. Documents, records and preserves historically relevant information pertaining to La Center United. Keeps the minutes of the proceedings of the membership and Executive Board, presents minutes for approval. Coordinates communication of meeting minutes, and annual updates to sector representatives and stakeholders.

Treasurer
Serves as a director of the organization, and as a member of the executive board. Organizes, documents, and records all financial activities of the organization. Oversees all nonprofit funds in accordance with the organization’s financial policies. Collects/disperses funds, ensures funds are received and spent in accordance with the organization’s tax-exempt purpose, bylaws, and budget, presents monthly financial statements (accounting background preferred), arranges for all audits.

Communication Coordinator:
Serves as a director of the organization, and as a member of the executive board. Prepares and distributes monthly newsletter. Distributes meeting notices & agendas. Maintains general membership email distribution list. Serves as chair of the Social Media Committee.


Community Representative 1 & 2:
Serves as a director of the organization, and as a member of the executive board. Serves as chair of committee’s as may be assigned by the chair.
