Santa Barbara County Action Network is forming a new group called Santa Maria River Guardians to protect and enhance the Santa Maria River. We will work on habitat restoration, water quality improvements, solutions to flooding, enhanced public access and advocating for policies that benefit the Santa Maria River watershed. SBCAN, working with Channel Islands Restoration, the County of Santa Barbara and volunteers, will plant and restore several former encampment sites in the Santa Maria riverbed near Magellan and Seaward Drives in Santa Maria.
