Following the tradition from previous years, the Columbus Latino Heritage Month Steering Committee, in partnership with La Asociación de Escritores, is awarding individuals and organizations in our community who have demonstrated commitment, advocacy, and dedication to advancing the Latino community in Columbus. Nominations are due no later than August 15th. To nominate someone, please fill out this form with as much detail as possible.
There are three awards:
1. Esperanza del Futuro Award
- The Esperanza del Futuro Award is awarded to a young person (16-25) who is making strides and opening new opportunities for the Latino community. Although they are young, they are already going above and beyond in advocating for their community and leading others towards a more just and equitable future for all people of color. They show incredible promise.
2. Esperanza Award- The Esperanza Award is awarded to a lifetime advocate who resides in Central Ohio. They have spent their career championing the Latino community and their wellbeing. They are someone who has always recognized their roots, or raices, and has gone above and beyond for their community in creating new opportunities and breaking barriers of entry.
3. Esperanza de la Comunidad Award
- The Esperanza de la Comunidad Award is awarded to an organization that promotes the wellbeing of the Latino community. This organization not only advocates for our community but provides services and opportunities that ensure the betterment of our community. This is open to any kind of organization, group, or business.
