The objective of the NC Equity Fellowship is to develop leaders equipped to reverse the trends of racial inequity by turning thoughts into action. It is clear, whether looking at the political climate or consulting the access and outcome educational data, that race matters immensely. Our historical unwillingness to grapple with this malady has weakened us as a nation and state. No time is better than now to confront these issues. NC Equity Fellows can be prepared to spend the duration of the year focused on anti-racist and abolitionist approaches to education equity, understanding the policy landscape, and developing projects that unapologetically focus on racial equity.
The fellowship includes:
Monthly virtual meetings with access to information and resources sure to enrich your orientation toward solutions-based approaches.
Quarterly in-person convenings (dependent on COVID-19 restrictions) through July 2025.
Experiential learning opportunities and skill development focused on your respective corners of the education system.
A two-part financial stipend to support your professional development.
Our approach as an organization is to use a panoramic lens that runs the entire gamut from research-to-practice. The NC Equity Fellowship is part of the greater CREED mission to transform the education system so the lives and experiences of students of color are central to how schools function. There will be several opportunities for participate to engage with the other branches of our work: #TeachingInColor, Freedom Hill Coalition, and the NC10.
Applications must be submitted by Friday, September 6, 2024.
