2 by 2 Napoleonic's — The Muster Roll & Council of War
Hear ye, honourable ladies and gentlemen of the wargaming fraternity. Whereas these Rules have been carried upon the table these six-and-twenty years by your good offices, the Author now solicits two favours of you. First, that you append your name to the Muster Roll, there to be set in print among the honourable company who have kept these colours flying. Second, should you be so inclined, that you furnish your counsel before the Council of War — what wants mending, and what wants adding — that the next edition might march the better for it. No coin is asked, nor any taken: the Rules are, and shall remain, free to all.

Your name, for inscription upon the Muster Roll
Pray render it precisely as you would see it printed — and, if it please you, prefixed with such military rank or civil honorific as you are entitled to bear: Gen., Col., Maj., Capt., Lt., Sgt., Cpl.; or Mr, Mrs, Miss, Mme, M., Herr, &c. A regiment, club, or honest nom de guerre may follow, should you desire it.
Grievances & amendments, humbly submitted to the Council of War
Are there passages of these Rules which have long vexed you, or which experience upon the field has proven wanting? Set them down here with as much particularity as you please — naming the section, the troop-type, or the very predicament that occasions your concern — that the Author may weigh them in his deliberations.
Requisitions: such additions as you would see brought to the colours
Should there be matter you have wished these Rules to encompass — new troops, scenarios, solo play, campaigns, optional articles, or clarifications of the existing text — be so good as to enumerate them here. And should l'esprit de l'escalier overtake you — that happy thought which, as the French would have it, arrives only upon the staircase, once the door has shut and the moment for speaking it is past — take heart: this Council keeps no closing hour. Return whensoever the better notion presents itself, and honour this Council with your counsel anew.
