Course Title: Active Shooter / Critical Incident Training- (AS/CI)
Educational Objectives: AS/CI Training prepares individuals to handle the threat of an Active Shooter. AS/CI Training teaches individuals to participate in their own survival, while leading others to safety. Though no one can guarantee success in this type of situation, this new set of skills will greatly increase the odds of survival should anyone face this form of disaster.
Course Description: AS/CI Training provides options that can be used to help make decisions during active shooter situations whether to flee, lockdown, or fight. These options can be used literally anywhere.
Course Agenda: Training is broken down to include historical data on active shooter situations, specific examples of how to lockdown, what options are available, when and how to flee to safety, and when to make the decision to fight back. Real-life videos are presented and critiqued. Adequate time is provided for students to ask questions specific to their workplace environment to incorporate their options.
Instructor: Sergeant Larry A. Harpster #43 of the Lake County Sheriff’s Office will be conducting the training. Sgt. Harpster has over 20 years of experience with the Lake County Sheriff’s Office as well as 18 years as a S.W.A.T. Team Member. His experience includes: Road Patrol Supervisor, ALICE Active Shooter Certified Trainer, Active Shooter / Critical Incident Trainer, Marine Patrol Supervisor, Field Training Officer Supervisor, School Resource Officer Supervisor, Member of original Lake County WMD Technical Support Team and Terrorist Liaison Officer through U.S. Department of Justice.
