2027 SCIPP Summer Internship Host Application
The Southern Climate Impacts Planning Program (SCIPP), a NOAA Regional Integrated Sciences and Assessments (RISA) team, is thrilled to announce an opportunity to host an undergraduate student intern for 10 weeks during summer 2027. This internship presents a unique opportunity for organizations in Arkansas, Louisiana, Oklahoma, and Texas to enhance their capacity in addressing climate-and weather-related challenges while benefiting from the skills of motivated undergraduate students. Hosting an intern offers the chance to tackle specific organizational needs, such as: developing strategies to address vulnerabilities to extreme weather, collecting data to assess risks, improving how weather and climate effects are incorporated in city or organization plans, developing messaging to help a community prepare for extreme events, etc.

SCIPP is seeking specific project ideas that can be completed by a summer intern that would benefit your community or organization, and align students' academic knowledge with practical, real-world projects. SCIPP will provide hourly compensation for the student, and our staff will assist in defining a project that is both meaningful and achievable within the internship period.

Don't miss out on this worthwhile opportunity! If interested, please complete the application form below by end of day on November 16, 2026 for consideration as a host organization. If your application is successful, SCIPP will send follow up communication to briefly discuss your intended project and eventually match your organization's needs with the skills and abilities of an undergraduate student intern.

For questions or clarification, please contact SCIPP's Program Manager, Caylah Cruickshank (caylahc@ou.edu).
