SCJEA 2019 Write-off Registration
From Santa Barbara to San Diego, high schools are invited to send their best journalists to the 2019 SCJEA State Write-off Competition on March 16 at Long Beach Community College, Liberal Arts Campus, 4271 Clark Ave, Long Beach, CA 90808. REGISTRATION DEADLINE IS SUNDYA MARCH 10.
Registration Steps
1. After you complete your registration, you will receive a confirmation and invoice via email.
2. Do NOT send your payment until you receive the confirmation and invoice (see payment information below).
Note: Once your registration has been submitted, no changes or refunds (additions/subtractions) can be made. You may substitute students on the day of the competition for some categories, if necessary.

Entry Fee Information
All categories are $10 per student and each school must pay a $30 SCJEA dues fee (if they are not current with their dues). Fees cover the cost of trophies, certificates, supplies, morning refreshments for students and the awards ceremony. We also provide a lunch and a small gift for the professional journalists/judges.
Entry Fees
Please make checks payable to "SCJEA" and PLEASE BRING WITH YOU TO THE WRITE-OFF! You may substitute students on the day of the competition, if necessary. In some categories like News, Opinion, Features & Sports, the replacement student needs to have placed at the local write-off.
Write-off Registration
Registration begins at 8 a.m. and the welcome and instructions start at 8:45 a.m.
SCJEA Scholarships
SCJEA also awards $2,000 in four scholarships to graduating seniors. We also give up to $2,000 for current staff members and advisers to attend summer workshops. Ask your local president for scholarship applications if you did not receive them. Or look at our website at www.socaljea.org. Scholarship deadline is March 6.
