Our Goal

The goal of the West End Community Market is to improve the health of West End residents through making our local food system more sustainable, accessible and equitable. The Market provides an opportunity to local producers, businesses and local groups to sell and/or produce a range of other products. The Market is managed by the Winnipeg FoodShare Co-op (WFC) with support from Daniel McIntyre/St Matthews Community Association (DMSMCA), Winnipeg Central Mosque and the Spence Neighbourhood Association (SNA). The West End Community Market is made possible with funding from DMSMRI.

Terms and Conditions

The 2016 West End Community Market will run Weekly from 3pm to 7pm. (The day of the market is yet to be determined, we are looking at either Tuesdays or Thursdays.

Tables will be located in the parking lot of Winnipeg Central Mosque at the corner of Ellice Avenue and Toronto Street.One market will be held at the Ellice Street festival on June 11th.

Selling on the Market site is permitted only on dates and times listed on this form.

Vendors must abide by any relevant City of Winnipeg/Province of Manitoba/Government of Canada regulations including but not limited to: Guidelines for the Operation of a Temporary Food Market, regulations surrounding home beauty products (i.e.: proper labeling and approved ingredients) and the Temporary Food Establishment Permit.

Vendors selling food items will insure all food is prepared and labeled in accordance with Province of Manitoba regulations. All food items must be from the approved items list in the Farmer’s Market Guidelines.

Vendors understand that no cold storage, electric power source or refrigeration will be available at the market site.

A complete list of food items will be provided to the West End Community Market no later than 12pm 14 days prior to a market date. Only items on the list may be sold at the market. Due to Food Permit regulations there may be no deviation in items from the submitted list. Vendors who do not provide a list 14 days prior to a market date will not be allowed to sell food.

The market will not happen on a scheduled date with adverse weather. A decision to proceed or cancel the market will take place no later than 2pm on the market date. Vendors will be notified by phone.

Tables are available free of charge on first come first serve basis. Vendors must bring their own chairs.

The West End Community Market and its partners are not responsible for lost, damaged or stolen goods.

Market equipment may not be left on site outside market hours.

WFC and its partners will promote the West End Community Market. Vendors may bring additional promotional materials to be posted at their table only Materials must directly relate to the vendor and/or products being sold.

Notification: Although no long term commitment is required, we request at least 2 days notice if you are not going to attend the market.
