LEAVE OF ABSENCE
Membership requirements and dues will be waived for a leave of absence. A leave of absence request must be brought to the BOD as soon as possible. Coaches and captains may require a skill level reassessment after any leave of absence.
Injuries: If capable, injured skaters are still encouraged to attend practice, bouts, meetings, public relations events and remain active in committees and communication forums.
Pregnancy: If able, pregnant skaters are encouraged to attend practice, bouts, meetings, public relations events and remain active in committees and communication forums. Pregnant skaters are not encouraged to continue skating. Those that do, skate at their own risk and agree to not hold SMRR liable for injuries or health complications. Pregnant skaters that choose to continue skating are strongly encouraged to consult medical professionals to determine an appropriate level of activity with special consideration to long-term effects.
Other: All absences lasting longer than 90 days without proper communication with the league will have to reapply for membership. If we have not heard from a skater in 2 weeks and we are concerned for their wellbeing, we may contact the skater’s emergency contact person or law enforcement if circumstance warrants.
